Over the past two years, I’ve been using red light therapy panels and testing irradiance with a spectrometer. I’ve personally used RLT Home, PlatinumLED, Joovv, Hooga, Rouge and Helio Cure. The other five panels in this guide are included from product research.
Irradiance matters because it tells me how much light power reaches a given area. A bright red glow alone does not tell me that. I look for the distance, settings and measurement method alongside the reading.
I pay attention to the instrument as well as the distance. Solar meter readings and laboratory spectroradiometer readings can differ, so I do not mix them in the same comparison. Mito’s MitoMIN 2.0 page, for example, publishes both types of reading. I want the instrument, settings and distance stated together.
I also look beyond the wavelength list. I check the percentage dedicated to each wavelength, whether the LEDs use single or dual chips, and the beam angle. Together with coverage and controls, those details help me understand the complete setup.
I compare like with like. A percentage of LEDs is different from a percentage of light output. A dual chip label or a narrower beam angle does not automatically make a panel better.
My experience, clearly separated.
My personal use labels identify the six panels I’ve used. I do not present manufacturer specifications as my own measurements. The scorecard combines my recorded personal ratings with clearly identified editorial estimates. They are separate from measured irradiance values. My shortlist order also reflects my preferences and confidence in each brand, so it is not sorted by score total.
